Luau Party Ideas

While planning summer parties you may be looking for luau party ideas. A luau is a Hawaiian theme party in which incorporating traditional luau food, tropical drinks, decorations, theme music and good friends make the best party atmosphere. Most luau party ideas can be saved and reused year after year or party after party.

  1. Food Food may be the easiest step to complete for luau party ideas. Tropical fruit are always a great hit. Fresh mango, pineapple, papaya, passion fruit, coconut and bananas all add to that luau flair. Roasted pig is also traditional luau food. However, roasted smoked pork will work as well. Include some surf and turf to your menu and you're good to go.

  2. Drinks Although no party would be complete without beer, drinks with a tropical flair add to the luau theme. Tropical fruit juices mixed with rum are some of the most classic luau drinks. Add an umbrella to a fancy glass and you are set. These drinks can also be served non-alcoholic.

  3. Decorations Luau decorations are used to set the mood. When thinking of luau decorations and attire, some think of coconut bras and grass skirts. Tiki torches, paper lanterns and floating candles are great lighting ideas. Palm trees, either real or fake, decorative vases, thatch umbrellas and sand help bring the Luau theme to your party.

  4. Music Music can be a subtle back tone for your luau or more of a frontrunner. If you can't find the right music for your luau you can simple play ocean sounds at your Luau. Just remember no music is better than the wrong music in this situation.

  5. Friends When planning a luau, friends are the most important aspect of the details. Being surrounded by good friends far outweighs any other ideas or details for the luau you have planned.
