Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

If your best buddy asked you about male yeast infection symptoms, you might laugh him out of the locker room. You might even tease him for being such a girl. Contrary to popular belief, though, men can get yeast infections. If you want to know the symptoms—and you would rather not ask your girlfriend—look no further.

  1. Red Rash. Run into the bathroom, drop your pants and take a look at your penis. A red, irritated rash could indicate a male yeast infection according to the Mayo Clinic. Keep in mind that a rash can indicate other conditions, too. See a doctor to make sure.
  2. Burning. If the tip of your penis burns like a disco inferno, a wildfire of a yeast infection might be blazing there. However, this common yeast infection symptom could also signal a more serious condition, too. Make an appointment with your doctor—stat.
  3. Itching. If you have ever dismissed your girlfriend's gripes about yeast infection itching, prepare to pay your karmic debt. A male yeast infection will make you want to scratch down there. Itching or irritation of the penis might also signal a sexually transmitted disease, so schedule an appointment with a health care professional.

Tip:

Luckily, you can treat a male yeast infection with over the counter remedies such as yeast infection creams--yep, just like the ones your girlfriend buys. Apply the yeast infection treatment cream to your penis, following package or doctor directions. Do not purchase yeast infection creams until you have seen a doctor; you need to rule out an STD or other issue causing your symptoms.
