Manga sites are online databases for fans of Japanese comics. These manga sites contain hundreds of volumes available and forums for fan interaction. If you aren’t in the know, mangas are Japanese comic books similar to anime, which is short for “animation.”

  1. Manga Fox (http://www.mangafox.com) is an enormous website. The content ranges from countless issues of myriad manga series, from the most popular to the most obscure, to interactive anime games and an extensive and heavily trafficked forum for fans of manga and anime. Manga Fox also features a recommended book of the week and an inventoried manga database with 71 pages worth of manga series titles, each containing information about and issues of the series.
  2. Manga Volume (http://www.mangavolume.com/) is a tube site for manga fans. It lists thousands of titles by category, rating, views, length and more. It’s easy to get sucked into the near limitless manga content for hours. As with Manga Fox, Manga Volume features a large and well-populated forum. A unique feature of Manga Volume is that it allows users to upload original works onto the site.
  3. One Manga (http://www.onemanga.com/) looks like a blog at first glance. However, closer inspection reveals a sizeable online manga database and forum. The site allows users to join the site and create a personal profile with saved manga titles for future reading. One Manga also features a new releases section listing all recently added volumes with links to each for easy navigation.
  4. Manga Entertainment (http://www.manga.com) and Tokyo Pop (http://www.tokyopop.com/) are prominent manga publishing companies with respectable websites. Each publisher features video and print content, including experts of famous titles, full episodes of anime serials, interviews with artists and authors, forums and webstores stocked with books, DVDs and tons more merchandise. IF you’re a fan of another publishing company, chances are its got its own website with other content.
  5. AnimeNfo (http://www.animenfo.com/) is technically not a manga site; it specializes in animation. However, the site maintains a manga section stocked with information, from a manga 101 turtorial, manga reviews, top twenty manga titles, a database of titles and other miscellaneous information. All such information and more is also available for anime, the database for which contains links to official websites and streaming episodes.
