The “Mario Kart Wii” unlockables add extra game play elements for your racing pleasure. As you reach certain milestones in the game, you’ll discover new characters, karts and tracks. Start your engine, grab the nearest koopa shell and begin your hunt for these unlockables.
- Star Cup. Initially, “Mario Kart Wii” features four cups: the Mushroom Cup, the Flower Cup, Shell Cup and Banana Cup. Each cup contains four courses, so those should keep you busy for a while. However, when you start to hunger for new tracks, you can resort to unveiling the “Mario Kart Wii” unlockable cups. By placing in third place or higher in the Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup, you will gain access to the Star Cup. Of course, this isn’t the extent of the unlockable courses. Keep collecting those trophies to unlock the Leaf Cup, Lightning Cup and Special Cup.
- King Boo. “Mario Kart Wii” offers you twelve drivers to choose from. Is that really enough variety for you? No? Luckily, there’s plenty of unlockable characters in the game. After opening the Star Cup courses, play through grand prix and win the trophy. By doing so, you’ll unlock King Boo. He is a large-sized driver who brings a good handling bonus to whatever vehicle he drives. Other “Mario Kart Wii” unlockable characters include Diddy Kong, Daisy and Rosalina.
- Piranha Prowler. Expand the collection of vehicles in your “Mario Kart Wii” garage by unlocking the Piranha Prowler. This hidden kart is one of the heaviest vehicles in the game and resembles a vicious piranha plant. Unlock it by winning the Special Cup trophy. Other “Mario Kart Wii” unlockable karts include the Sprinter, Royal Racer and Blue Falcon, which is from Nintendo’s “F-Zero” series.
