These Mexican American soccer players started playing at a young age and have developed into professionals who hold places on well known teams.

  1. Omar Gonzalez. Born in Dallas, Texas on October 11, 1988. Gonzalez holds dual citizenship as his parents are from Mexico. He studied in College Park, Maryland and plays for Los Angeles' soccer team, Galaxy. Gonzalez won the 2009 Rookie of the Year Award and in 2010 made his international debut.
  2. Christine Nieva. Born in Dallas (Mesquite), Texas on October 18,1986. Nieva also holds dual citizenship. She started playing soccer at age six and attended camps to hone her skills. Nieva currently plays soccer with The University of Houston as a midfielder/forward and has played internationally.
  3. Jose Luis Burciaga Jr. Born in Dallas (Oak Cliff), Texas on November 16, 1981. Burciaga's position as defender/midfielder has led him to victory. He was drafted to play with the Wizards straight out of high school after playing for his team the Predators. Burciaga then played for the Colorado Rapids. Burciaga is now retired since the Rapids decided not to renew his contract.
  4. Alexandrea Rebecca Mendoza. Born in Dallas (Garland), Texas on July 12, 1987. Mendoza holds dual citizenship also. Mendoza is a great midfielder and has played with the Dallas Sting and Notre Dame's Fighting Irish soccer program.
