Mile High Music Festival 2011

The Mile High Music Festival 2011, which has been held in years past just minutes away from downtown Denver, will not be scheduled this year. This popular music festival has in times past, featured such top musicians as Tom Petty and the Dave Matthews Band. Event organizers state that financial concerns led to this decision, which was a disappointment to music lovers everywhere.

Last year this popular event was held in Dick's Sporting Goods Park. This year event organizers have not only canceled this festival, but a whole slew of other ones that were scheduled around the same time. Organizers recognize that the fans and even the musicians may be disappointed by this turn of events. But times are tough economically and the organizers cannot afford to have so many venues.

So what does this mean for the Mile High Music Festival? It's hard to say. Organizers have stated they would like to return next year. Others have come forward and offered to carry on with the event. Still with this amount of chaos rampant, it's doubtful that things will come together any time soon. There were many reasons the show got canceled, acts were slow in being signed, there were problems with the city of the use of the venue, the list is long and the reasons are boring.

So to restate for those who haven't seen the news already. The Mile High Music Festival in the city of Denver has been canceled for this year. It may return next year, it may not. Perhaps the fans will find another festival to go to that can afford to pay its bills. Or maybe next year the great acts like Petty and Weezer won't come back. Who wants to headline a festival that will just be canned the next year?

Event promoter AEG live stated that while the festival is taking a hiatus this year, they hope to be back in full swing next year. Hopefully that will be the case, there is never too much music in the world. However it should be noted, that AEG has struggled as of late, and has been forced to scale back and close other festivals and events it has been putting on. So what happens is anyone's guess. There will be information on the festival planned for 2012, as it becomes available. This one is a wrap.

However music is a strange beast, and there were enough fans and top acts at last year's festival to make the gate and some. So perhaps there will be a festival in 2012 after all, if the promoters can get their acts together. Some people seem to think that won't happen due to impending doom and end of the world worries related to 2012. But if the world doesn't end, maybe we'll have something good to listen to.
