MMA submission moves are used to dominate opponents during mixed martial arts fighting. This is a combat sport that involves full contact fighting and skills from a large variety of martial arts sports, along with some principles from other disciplines. There are specific strategies that you can use to help you master some MMA submission moves.

  1. Learn some MMA arm lock submission moves. This type of MMA submission move is very effective at immobilizing your opponent. Arm lock submission moves generally involve gripping both of your opponent’s arms usually from behind. You can then put pressure on the neck, elbows, forearms or shoulders to intensify the move.
  2. Practice some MMA leg lock submission moves. These have the same principle as the arm lock moves, but are generally more effective and need to be done while both fighters are on the ground. Holding your opponent’s feet or legs and forcing them in a certain direction, such as up, to the side or even around you, will help you pull off the MMA leg lock submission moves.
  3. Try out a MMA choke submission move. Choke submission moves are generally more intense than either arm lock or leg lock submission moves. You can accomplish an MMA choke submission move from either the back or the side of your opponent. Your wrist or forearm are typically used to pull off the choke submission move, and there are some that can be done from down on the mat.
  4. Incorporate MMA joint lock submission moves. These can be similar to arm or leg locks, but they are more focused on immobilizing your opponent’s joints by hyper-extending or hyper-rotating a particular joint, such as the elbow, shoulder, knee, ankle or even neck. These moves can be dangerous, but experienced MMA fighters can easily subdue an opponent when performing MMA joint lock submission moves.
  5. Use a MMA compression lock submission moves. This type of submission move is meant to immobilize your opponent and cause them intense pain. The MMA compression lock submission moves basically work by pressing your opponent’s muscles, such as the Achilles tendon, bicep or thigh muscle, right into the bone, which results in serious pain.
