Muay Thai Vs Krav Maga: Which Is Better And What's The Difference?

A lot of factors come into consideration with the debate of Muay Thai vs Krav Maga: which is better and what's the difference?  While it is difficult to come up with an answer for this, the differences are interesting to note.  Read along as we tackle Muay Thai and Krav Maga with their differences and how each may be suitable for you.

What is Muay Thai?  Muay Thai is a form of martial arts from Thailand, known for integrating striking and clinching.  Many consider it to be kickboxing with elbows and knees allowed, which is pretty intense.  Not for the faint of heart, this form of marital arts is depicted in movies and other media you've probably noticed.

What is Krav Maga?  Krav Maga is from Isreal and combines striking, grappling, and wrestling techniques.  This is a form of martial arts that is taught to many special forces and police units around the world.  Krav Maga is more of a street fighting martial art.

General comparisons.  Krav Maga is designed for street fighting, and targeting weak points on the opponent such as eyes.  These brutal counter-attacks typify the martial art, which may be good for you if you want something in purely self defense situations.  Muay Thai may be more appropriate if you want something that is more of a "sport".  You would be better suited to compete with a Muay Thai background in MMA, for example.  However, these are just general considerations.
