Muslim Online Dating Rules

Muslim online dating rules vary, depending on the intent of the participants. For example, strict believers in the tenets of the Qur’an are sure to view their needs and preferences differently from those looking for a summer romance. In spite of this gap, there are some common Muslim online dating rules that apply to all participants.

  1. Intent should be clearly communicated. Do not lead on a potential dating partner into thinking that you are looking for marriage when instead you are after a good time. Being up-front about marriage-mindedness narrows the online playing field--when looking for women--but it leaves those who share your way of thinking.
  2. Disclose religion and its impact on your life. A non-observant Muslim will look for a different partner than one whose faith is the focal point of daily life.  The same holds true for the caliber of dates he attracts; a very religious man will attract marriage-minded women rather than those interested in a fling or even long-term dating.
  3. Recognize (and embrace) the types of ladies most likely to respond. Using a dating site is unlikely to attract traditional Islamic women. Ladies using a dating site that caters to Muslims are not necessarily believers themselves; conversely, they may be widowed, divorced, converts to the faith or those without families to broker a relationship. If you want to avoid a certain type of female, be specific in your bio about the kind of lady you prefer.
  4. Modern ‘Net dating does not eradicate traditional first meetings. Muslim online dating rules do not negate the need for a guardian to be present when meeting a traditional Muslim woman in person. Some conservatives will go so far as to have a guardian present during a webcam chat.

Because of Muslim online dating, rules of conduct appear to have been relaxed somewhat. Even so, adherence to traditional mores depends in large part on the participants in the dating relationship. The aforementioned Muslim online dating rules ensure that you can head off at least some potential pitfalls that would otherwise ruin the experience.
