It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that there are a lot of NYC hospitals. After all, this is one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world. With so many people, it's important to make sure that these hospitals are top quality. Some of the top NYC hospitals are listed below.

  1. Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) is a major hospital in this area. It has two different campuses with a total of 785 beds. A third campus was also acquired in the early 2000s but it is currently closed as it awaits renovations. This is a teaching hospital (part of the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine) that was founded in 1861. Located at 392 Seguine Avenue Staten Island, NY 10309.
  2. The Zucker Hillside Hospital (previously known as Hillside Hospital) is a psychiatric hospital and clinic. It's located on the campus of the Jewish Medical Center, which is in the Queens section of New York City. It was also been named one of the nation's best psychiatric hospitals in a 2008 issue of “U.S. News and World Report.” Located at 75-59 263rd Street Glen Oaks, NY 11004.
  3. Bellevue Hospital Center (a.k.a. Bellevue) was founded in March 1736. It is the oldest public hospital in the nation today. It is well known by people around the world because of its numerous literary, and film and television references. Since 1968 it has been affiliated with the New York University School of Medicine, making it a training hospital. In fact, it is also home to the world’s first maternity ward.   4. Jacobi Medical Center is a municipal hospital that was founded in 1955 and named in honor of Dr. Abraham Jacobi (father of American pediatrics). It is the largest public hospital in NYC with over 470 beds, and it is also affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Located at 1400 Pelham Pkwy S # 6-B25 New York, NY 10461.
  5. Coney Island Hospital is a public hospital that was opened in 1875 when it was simply an emergency first aid station. Since then it has gone on to become the hospital with more than 400 beds, and services more than 18,000 patients per year. Throughout its time, this hospital has also built a reputation for clinical excellence and won numerous awards. Located at 2601 Ocean Parkway Brooklyn, New York 11235.
