Pancake Day Recipe

Here are a few delicious pancake day recipes. In Britain, Shrove Tuesday is the day you can pull out a good pancake day recipe and celebrate Pancake Day. The day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent is Pancake Day. The traditional pancake thin and crepe-like and eaten with sugar and lemon, there are a few variations that are fun to try.

If you want to make a traditional Pancake Day pancakes, you will need:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4  teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • sugar
  1. Sift the salt with the flour. Put milk and eggs into a bowl and whisk until combined. Pour the milk and egg mixture into the flour and whisk until there are no lumps.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet to medium high. Put a teaspoon of oil into the skillet. Ladle in enough batter make a medium sized pancake, a little less than one-quarter cup.
  3. When the edges begin to dry out and get golden, turn the pancake over. Cook the other side for one or two minutes.  Place pancakes under a towel to keep them warm.
  4. Repeat, using the rest of the batter and adding more oil as needed. Serve warm with a squeeze of lemon and a dusting of sugar on the top.

If you want to make chocolate hazelnut pancakes, then you will need:

  • 4 Shrove Day pancakes
  • 1/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1 banana, peeled and sliced
  1. Spread a pancake with a tablespoon of chocolate hazelnut spread. Arrange bananas down the center and roll up.
  2. Repeat with the other pancakes. Serve warm.

If you want to make strawberry pancakes, then you will need:

  • 4 Shrove Day pancakes
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • ½ cup whipped cream
  1. Open a pancake and put the strawberries on one quarter. Fold up the pancake into quarters.
  2. Top with whipped cream. Serve immediately.
