If you have an unusual curvature of the penis that causes pain, discomfort or embarrassment, you probably want to find out more about penis curvature correction processes. This condition, also called Peyronie's disease, occurs when scar tissue develops under the skin of the penis with no known cause. Curvature of the penis can make erections and intercourse painful or, in worst cases, completely impossible. The good news is that penis curvature correction processes can help you regain normal sexual function. These treatments include:

  1. Oral medications. These treatments include Vitamin E, potassium amino-benzoate, tamoxifen, colchicine and carnitine. These medications show varying degrees of effect. This means that your doctor may have to try different medications until he or she finds one that works for you.
  2. Penile injections. As an alternative to oral medication, your doctor can inject a drug directly into the penis to correct the scar tissue that is the cause of the curvature. These medications include verapamil, interferon and collagenase.
  3. Radiation therapy. With this treatment, radiation beams are targeted at the scar tissue to reduce the pain of the curvature. However, this treatment does not get rid of the scar tissue itself.
  4. Surgery. Your doctor may recommend surgical penis curvature correction if you have tried other treatments for one year with no discernable results. One of these techniques involves removing the scar tissue. Another technique is the implantation of a device to correct the curvature of the penis. Because there can be complications to this treatment, they are only performed for the most severe cases of Peyronie's disease.
