Ping Pong Rules
If you are interested in ping pong, then you need to know the ping pong rules. You should know these most basic rules to ping pong before getting into a match with someone so that there aren’t any disputes during the game that could be easily avoided by the players both have knowledge of the game of ping pong.
- Every ping pong match and round is started by a serve. This rule is important because it is how to properly begin any round of ping pong. To follow this rule to a tee, you should hold the ball in your palm then toss it up in the air. The ping pong ball should bounce once on the server’s side before crossing over the net and bouncing on the other player’s side. It is illegal to serve a ping pong ball and make it hit on the opposing players side without it first touching your side.
- The rule about scoring in ping pong is quite simple. If the ball bounces twice on your side of the table, it is a point for the other ping pong player. This ping pong rule also says that if the ball bounces on your opponent’s side and then bounces off, it is then your point. If you fail to serve properly, it is, by the official rules, a point to your opponent. If you serve and the ball hits the net but goes over, it is a let serve and there is a redo. If your ball hits the net on a serve but doesn’t go over then the rule is that the point goes to your opponent.
- There is an official, set by the rules, ping pong legal area on the ping pong table. Anything on the table is legal, including the white lines. The sides of the table are not legal according to the rules.
