Pizza Dough Recipes With Yeast
If you are still looking for that perfect pizza, try making your own from scratch using one of these pizza dough recipes with yeast. Going from pizza place to pizza place to find the pizza you want take far longer than it does to make your own dough and fill it with your favorite pizza topping.
White Pizza Dough
To make white pizza dough, you will need:
- 1 package dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- Activate the yeast. Combine sugar and warm water in a large mixing bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. Sprinkle the dry yeast over the top of the warm water mixture and let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
- Stir the olive oil and salt into the bubbly yeast mixture. Add flour and mix into a soft dough.
- Dust a flat clean surface with the flour. Place the dough on the floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until all the flour is absorbed and the dough is smooth.
- Pour a little oil in a large clean bowl. Place the dough in the oiled bowl and roll it over to oil the other side of the dough. Cover with a towel place the bowl in a warm place for an hour until the dough doubles in size. Place the dough on a floured surface. Punch the dough down into a tight ball. Let the dough rise for 45 minutes until it doubles in size again.
- Bake pizza dough. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Roll out the dough as far as possible. Drape the dough over both fists and pull the edges of the dough outward, as you rotate the crust. Place on a well oiled pizza pan, add sauce and toppings. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is bubbling. Cut and serve.
Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
To make whole wheat pizza dough, you will need:
- 1 teaspoongranulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cupwarm water
- 1 tablespoonactive dry yeast
- 1 tablespoonolive oil
- 1 teaspoonsalt
- 2 cupswhole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cupall purpose flour
- Activate the yeast. Combine sugar and warm water in a large mixing bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. Sprinkle the dry yeast over the top of the warm water mixture and let stand for 10 minutes until the yeast is foamy.
- Stir the olive oil and salt into the bubbly yeast mixture. Add the whole wheat flour and one cup of all purpose flour. Mix into a soft dough.
- Cover a flat clean surface with the remaining ½ cup of all purpose flour. Place the dough on the floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until all the flour is absorbed and the dough is smooth.
- Pour a little oil in a large clean bowl. Place the dough in the oiled bowl and roll it over to oil the other side of the dough. Tips and Warnings:
- For best results with activating the yeast, the warm water should be 110 degrees F.
- If the yeast does not activate properly, it could be expired, start over with fresh yeast.
