The Plant City Strawberry Festival, commonly known as the Florida Strawberry Festival, is an annual event attended by people from around the world. The winter strawberry capital of the world. This label is given to Plant City, Florida, the site of the Plant City Strawberry Festival. The largest producer and shipper of strawberries in the state of Florida, Wishnatzki Farms, has its headquarters in Plant City. The city is believed to be named after its fruits and vegetables that flourish as a result of its tropical Gulf Coast climate.
Basics of the Plant City Strawberry Festival. The local Lions Club began the Festival in 1930 after twenty years of lack of success, by locals, to support the strawberry crop. Typically held in late February or early March, the Plant City Strawberry Festival has since been very popular. In 2009, more than half a million people showed up for the two-week event.
