Platform Diving Instruments
Platform diving instruments include a variety equipment that must be necessary for safe and effective diving. Platforms are not the only pieces of instruments you'll need for training, enhancing or learning to platform dive.
- Platforms. If you do not use a springboard, the platform may be your primary dive location. Platforms should offer a smooth design and perfect surface. If using for recreation, using a non-skid platform is recommended for ultimate safety. Some competitive divers may not want to work with a non-skid platform as it can cause their feet to catch and create a dangerous or damaging situation.
- Spotting Equipment. It's important for the diver and trainer to have spotting equipment, especially when working with a new diver. When you include platform diving instruments and spotting equipment, you bring two key elements to the surface. Spotting equipment can include spotting belts, beam clamps and spotting rigs. These can all be used in conjunction with platform diving to help the diver have a greater sense of confidence while training.
- Replacement Parts. It's essential to keep platform diving instrument replacement parts on hand in the event of a problem with any of the equipment. When you can fix the problem immediately this decreases the level of danger for the diver and those around the premises. The most common types of replacement instruments should include: clamps, spotting rigs, beam clamps, guardrail repair kit, and hinge kit.
All of these platform diving equipment pieces are essential to safe diving and for the best outcome in competitive diving. When you take the time to have everything in place you will find yourself improving and becoming more confident in your diving abilities.
