Being able to play poker online for free can be a lot of fun.  Whether you want to get involved in competitive tournaments or play your friends on Facebook in a few quick hands, you can do it all online and at no cost.  Here are some steps and ideas that will allow you to play poker online for free.

  1. Find a poker website that you like.  If you've ever seen poker on television, or even a poker commercial, you've probably heard of poker websites.  This is just one of the many ways to play poker online for free.  Look around at some of these websites.  While all of them may not be exclusively free, you can either find one that is or just stick to the free sections of these websites.  Free poker playing rooms and tournaments are rather popular, even at sites where paid games occur.
  2. Download an app or use social media to play poker online for free.  Going to a website on your computer isn't the only way to play poker online for free.  If you have an Internet-enabled device of any kind, such as an iPod Touch, iPhone, or smart phone, you can download poker-playing apps.  As long as you have an Internet connection you can play poker online for free.  Additionally, both in regards to some of these apps and apart from the apps, you can also look at playing poker on a site like Facebook (through a game on there or a poker app that uses Facebook).
  3. Create an account.  No matter what platform you use to play poker online, you'll likely need an account to use the site or application.  You may be able to use an existing account, such as your Facebook account, to get an account and some chips.
  4. Log in and look for games.  With your account log in and start playing poker online for free.  There will likely be tables that you can play with your chips at, or possibly free tournaments that are also very exciting.  You will be able to start playing poker online for free, building your chip count and enjoying the game.
