Playing Fantasy Baseball

Want to know how to play fantasy baseball? Fantasy baseball is a game that is played using the statistics of players, usually Major League Baseball players.  There are many steps necessary to be taken for anyone that is interested in playing fantasy baseball.  Let's talk about some of the things that need to be done to play fantasy baseball.

1. The first thing to do when playing fantasy baseball is form a fantasy baseball league.  Most leagues have anywhere between 8 and 16 people in the league.  Also, there is usually a commissioner for a fantasy baseball league.  The commissioner is in charge of organizing the league, as well as handling the scoring for the league.
2. After the league is assembled, the first step in having a fantasy baseball league is having a draft.  A draft is where everyone in the league gets to pick the players that they are going to have on their team.  For most leagues, the draft order is decided randomly, with something like drawing the names out of a hat to see who picks when.
3. After the players are selected, the next step is managing the team.  Each league has different rules as far as which player's statistics count towards the results of the fantasy baseball league.  Each team will need to start a set amount of players at each position, including starting pitchers and bullpen pitchers, plus every other position on the diamond.  it is important to know the specifics of how many players to start.  Only the starting players' statistics will count. These rules are established by the commissioner.
4. In most leagues, the people in the league are able to trade players with other teams and also sign free agents.  Free agents are players that were not drafted and not currently on a team. They are also players that have been dropped in order to pick up another free agent.  If your team has a shortcoming, be sure to address it with either a trade or a free agent signing. If you have three to four extra starting pitchers, but the team is really lacking in an outfielder, explore all options to remedy this problem.

When playing fantasy baseball, the most important aspect is, obviously, having fun.  Sure it is fun to win and have bragging rights, but having fun amongst friends is the ultimate goal.  The commissioner should be able to help anyone in the league with questions or concerns.
