Politicians on Twitter

Surprisingly, there are a great number of politicians on Twitter. Twitter has grown in popularity since its start and has been a great way for politicians to directly communicate with their constituents and the press. Most members of Congress and other high ranking officials have official Twitter accounts. The following are just a small sample of the politicians on Twitter.

1. Barack Obama. Amazingly enough, you can follow President Barack Obama on Twitter. The President's account has been verified by the good folks over at Twitter, so it is official. President Obama is the highest ranked U.S. politician on Twitter.
2. Sen. John McCain.  President Obama's rival in the 2008 election is also on Twitter.  John McCain constantly updates his status as one of many politicians on Twitter.  Senator McCain uses his account to update constituents on appearances and his stance on issues.
3. Cory Booker.  As a rising star in the Democratic Party, Mayor Cory Booker is among the politicians that can be found on Twitter.  Mayor Booker interacts with many of his constituents through the website.
4. John Boehner.  Republic leader in the Congress, U.S. Representative John Boehner can be found on Twitter as well.  Recently Rep. Boehner was a popular trending topic on Twitter.
5. Al Gore.  Former Vice President Al Gore is also one of the many politicians on Twitter. Gore uses Twitter to discuss his position on the environment and upcoming events concerning the climate.
6. Arnold Schwarzenegger. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger uses his Twitter to keep his constituents informed and respond to critics. The Governor has been known to interact with people and even displays his sense of humor at times.
