The popular iPhone apps, or applications, range from free to costing a few dollars. The apps come in various forms including games, music utilities, organizers, social media and more. IPhone apps are a billion-dollar industry and iTunes App Store have approximately 300,000 apps available and it keeps on expanding.

  1. Yelp. This free iPhone app is a great resource in finding cafes, restaurants and other businesses within a specific area by simply typing in the name of the city, neighborhood or even the postal code. It is primarily a user-generated site with businesses reviewed by the clientele, so it helps you avoid seedy places or overpriced restaurants soaking in pretension.
  2. CraigslistPro+. You can virtually find and purchase anything from Craigslist, including an escort. Craigslist works on a first come, first buy basis, and this iPhone app gives you an advantage. It has the ability to create Search Agents, sending you a message the moment an item that you have been looking for is suddenly on sale.
  3. “Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies” “Call of Duty” is one of the highest ranking role-playing video game that finally became available as an iPhone app. Set in World War II, this first-person shooting game awakens the Nazi zombie killer in you. As an app that costs around ten dollars, it comes with a number of features including downloadable maps, weapons and some excellent animation.
  4. Allrecipes Dinner Spinner Pro. It is an iPhone app for those who love cooking. The interface is simple to navigate and comes with various categories such as desserts, entrees and more. The recipes are easy to follow and the ingredients are outlined clearly so there is no fear of adding three tablespoons of hot chili when it actually meant teaspoons.
  5. Doodle Jump. Doodle Jump is the kind of game that is so simple it is addicting. The fame features cute cartoon characters that have been compared to the Mario brothers. It has multiple stages and locations, and the next you know you have missed your subway stop.
  6. Pandora. It started out as a free internet radio station using your musical choices and its traits to select similar musicians to add on your list. If you created a “radio station” playing music by The Roots, Pandora will select similar artists whose sound resemble The Roots and include their music on your station. The best part of all this is that Pandora is free.
  7. The Weather Channel. Have you ever planned a romantic picnic only to discover on the day of that it is storming? The Weather Channel app puts the weather on your fingers. It is a very detailed app, breaking the weather into hours, weeks and even includes a Google Map section.
  8. Shazam Encore. Gone are the days when you want to bang your head on the wall trying to remember the title of that song you just heard. By letting your iPhone hear a few seconds of the song that is playing, the Shazam Encore app will detect the information about the song, including the title. If you truly, madly, deeply love the song enough, you can even buy it right there and then.
  9. Dropbox. This free app is a fantastic way to share and sync your files. It can even save High Definition videos and allows you to share your files via email or sync it to other computers.
  10. AroundMe. Imagine having a flat tire in nowhere town. AroundMe might just save your day. Using your iPhone’s GPS system, it locates your current position and finds the closest business that suits your needs, in this case a gas station. If the station is cash only, it also helps you find the nearest ATM although you might need to walk there first.
