Pork Roast Slow Cooker Recipe
Cook a complete meal while you are at work by following this pork roast slow cooker recipe. A slow cooker is a blessing to the hard working cook. Fill the slow cooker with pork and vegetables before leaving the house in the morning, and be prepared to enjoy a slow cooked pork roast that can be cut with a fork that night.
To make pork roast in the slow cooker, you will need:
- 4 to 5 pound pork roast
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 red onion
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- Salt
- 4 carrots
- 4 potatoes
- Prepare the ingredients. Wash, peel, and cut the carrots into two inch slices. Cut both ends off an onion and peel it under running water. Cut the onion in lengthwise into eight wedges. Wash and cut the potatoes lengthwise into quarters. The potatoes can be cooked peeled or with the skins depending on your taste. Peel the garlic clove, cut each end off, place a large wide knife over the clove and smash it.
- Fill the slow cooker. Place the crushed garlic in the bottom of the slow cooker. Line the bottom of the slow cooker with alternating onions, carrots and potatoes. Add the soy sauce and water. Wash the pork roast and place it over the vegetables in the slow cooker. Sprinkle salt over the top of the pork roast. Place the lid on the cooker and set the temperature to low. Cook for eight to ten hours.
- Serve the slow cooker pork roast. Remove the pork roast from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Slice the roast, like a loaf of bread, into ½ inch slices. Place the slices on a serving platter. Surround the pork with the cooked onions, potatoes and carrots. Ladle the cooking juices in the bottom of the slow cooker over the meat and vegetables and serve hot.
Tips:
If you are a garlic lover, peel two cloves of garlic, cut off each end, and cut into slices. Use a sharp steak knife and insert the blade two inches deep into the pork roast. Insert a slice of garlic into the hole in the roast. Repeat every few inches until all the garlic slices are inserted.
Warning:
If the pork roast is too large to fit in the slow cooker, just cut the roast in half.
