There are several steps that you can take to prepare for water skiing lessons. Water skiing is a recreational activity. Usually a boat or water propelled vehicle will pull a person across the lake by using an attached rope. The individual will hold the rope and glide on the surface of water with a pair of water skis. In some areas, there are rules and regulations that you will have to follow before you can prepare for water skiing lessons. Continue reading to learn how to get ready to take the lessons.

To prepare for water skiing lessons, you will need:

  • Good Health
  • Life Jacket
  • Water Skis
  1. Make sure that you know how to swim to help you prepare for water skiing lessons. Contact your family physician’s office and set up an appointment to make sure that you are healthy enough to take water skiing lessons. Prepare in advance by reading the book “Complete Guide to Water Skiing” by Ben Favret and David Benzel and always think safety first.
  2. Decide where you want to water ski to prepare for your water skiing lessons. Plan to take your water skiing lessons at a local lake, river or an aquatic park that has been designed for water skiing. Ask a ski instructor what equipment and supplies you will need to get started. Find out from the instructor how much the lessons will cost you and ask him if he could teach you. Offer to pay him a fee if he says yes.
  3. Make sure you are aware of the weather conditions when you are preparing for water skiing lessons. Be on the lookout for high waves and strong winds and cloudy skis to help you avoid an injury. Let your boating captain know that you will raise your hand in the air if you are having any difficulties and that you prefer to ride at low speeds. Do not try any advanced water skiing moves while you are preparing for your water skiing lessons and have fun.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Check the ski organization credentials
  • Do not invest a lot of money in equipment
  • Listen to your instructors
  • Read the ski lesson plan in advance
