If you want to make a living at as a pro bass angler, you will need to know these professional bass fishing tips. They will teach you what you need to know to work your way up as a pro angler. Who knows, maybe your family will see you on TV with the winning bass in one hand and the trophy in the other. 

  1. Spend all the time you can fishing. Getting into professional bass fishing requires that you spend many hours on the water. These hours will improve your fishing, your gut hunches, and your boating skills. Go after work and on the weekends. The more you are on at the lake, the more second nature bass fishing will become.
  2. Read and watch bass fishing resources. Read everything you can about professional bass fishing. Watch bass fishing DVDs and fishing shows. Subscribe to fishing magazines. This will give you new tips, help you to learn techniques and keep you informed about the world of angling.
  3. Join a bass fishing club. Not only will this give you more time on the water, but it will help you to learn from other anglers. You can learn bass fishing tips from every fisherman, good or bad. It will also help you to learn about upcoming professional bass fishing tournaments.
  4. Fish every tournament you can. To become a pro bass fisherman, you will have to win tournaments at a lower level. Each one you do well in allows you to move up to a bigger tournament. The bigger tournaments pay big money.
  5. Find a sponsor. As you win tournaments, locate sponsors. Companies look for ways to get their name out. If you are winning tournaments, they will supply you with products you need for professional bass fishing. These include everything from lures to bass fishing boats.
  6. Plan your tournament trail. Once you see that you have potential as a pro angler, make a list of upcoming tournaments across the country. Learn which are the most prestigious and plan to fish them. Bassmaster tournaments are your goal. Those are where you see the professional bass fishing heroes like Michael Iaconelli and Kevin VanDam.

Tips and Warnings:

  • Professional bass fishing can take its toll on even the most stubborn anglers. It sounds exciting, and it is, but it is not all fun and games. Expect it to be hard work and treat it like a job.
