Qualities Of An Entrepreneur

If you are thinking of starting a business, then you should look closely at the qualities of an entrepreneur who is successful.  Of course since entrepreneurs are individuals, there will be some qualities that are not your strong points. But if you are aware of this in the beginning, you can strengthen those qualities to give yourself a better chance at succeeding.

  1. Creative. An entrepreneur has to have a vision. A vision of a new way to do things, a better product, a different kind of company, a new way of marketing. Keeping an eye on the big picture and imaging the future are key parts of being an entrepreneur.
  2. Passionate. An entrepreneur faces numerous hurdles to overcome in setting up a business. Convincing others to invest, work for them, or buy their product takes passion. Passion is contagious and it gets an entrepreneur through the difficult times.
  3. Risk Taker. Even if you have a great idea and you are passionate about it, if you don’t like to take risk then being an entrepreneur might not be for you. Being a risk taker is one of the most important qualities in being an entrepreneur. Starting almost any business is risky, even if it is a calculated risk. If you can roll with the punches and optimistic you have a better chance of succeeding as an entrepreneur.
  4. Open to change. A corporate mind set that just does things a certain way because that’s the way it has always been done can be the undoing of an entrepreneur. The ability to invite change, to turn things on their head, to get an outside opinion – all qualities that can make the difference between a company’s failure or success.
  5. Committed. An entrepreneur who makes a commitment to the business idea and the people involved is more likely to make the dream of building a thriving company a reality. Others will have a hard time committing to something that the company’s founder doesn’t seem to fully invested in.
