The Ohio State hockey program is a collegiate hockey program that plays in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Their colors are scarlet and gray. They play their games in the Schottenstein Center on the Ohio State University campus.

The men's program has a rich history. The Buckeyes first season was played in 1963-64. The Buckeyes finished the season with a 2-8 record. The Buckeyes would improve over the years and compete with the CCHA's elite. One highlight came in the 1998 NCAA West Regional, where the Buckeyes upset the first seed in the region Michigan State. The win sent Ohio State to their first Frozen Four. They would lose to Boston College in the semifinal 5-2.

The Buckeyes would later have more postseason success. The Buckeyes had an impressive run in the 2004 CCHA's Super Six Championship where the Buckeyes defeated three opponents in three days to win the title. It included two overtime wins over Notre Dame and Miami. Over the years the Buckeyes have had several players selected as All-Americans. Hugo Boisvert, Jeff Maund, Paul Pooley, Perry Pooley, Mike Rousseau and R.J. Umberger all earned All-American distinction while wearing the scarlet and gray.

The 2009-2010 season was an uphill climb for the scarlet and gray. The Buckeyes were able to earn a birth into the CCHA tournament as an eighth seed. They lost in the quarterfinals to nationally ranked Miami and finished the year with a 15-18-6 record.
