Here is a quick intro to the Volcom stone logo. The Volcom stone logo appears on athletic clothing and other clothing items. It is meant to convey the philosophy of “youth against establishment”.

The story of how the Volcom stone logo got its start is rather inauspicious. In March of 1991, Richard Woolcott and Tucker Hall, friends and board-riding enthusiasts—board riding means exactly, riding a snowboard or skateboard on whatever surface is available, not just the one for which the board is intended—were visiting friends and snowboarding. Tucker, who had just been laid off, and Richard both were enjoying themselves so much that they extended their stay.

Two weeks later, Richard quit his job and he and Tucker continued to travel around and snowboard. It was during this “down time” that they actually began to give more serious thought to opening the riding company they had been considering. The company would incorporate snowboarding, skateboarding, and board riding.

An initial investment of $5000, from Woolcott’s dad, started the company. The name came first, then the Volcom stone logo. Richard and Tucker’s “youth against establishment” idea was considered a major philosophy at the time the Volcom stone logo and subsequently the clothing line, was introduced. Neither snowboarding nor skateboarding were well received at that time, and both the company itself and the Volcom stone logo were intended to give youth an outlet for creative thinking.

For the first two years, Richard and Tucker worked the Volcom stone logo business in around their riding adventures. The company headquarters were located in Richard’s bedroom in Newport, CA, while sales ran out of Tucker’s bedroom in Huntington. Word of mouth soon spread the news, however, and business went from $2600 in clothing sales its first year to the worldwide phenomena it is today.

The Volcom way of thinking and Volcom stone logo influence can be seen in art, movies, film, and of course, its clothing line. In addition, many athletes now endorse the Volcom stone logo. Different artwork and designs are imprinted on clothing items which sell everywhere. The work of different artists, both dead and still living, are often used on clothing. For instance, Salvador Dali’s artwork has recently been featured on Volcom stone logo clothing.
