Razor Bump Remedy
If you are a frequent shaver, you will likely need to know a razor bump remedy. While not everyone who shaves suffers from razor bumps, they are quite common after shaving your face or body. If you frequently get razor bumps, the best way to treat the ones that you have and prevent new ones is to just stop shaving for several days, if that is possible for you. Keep in mind that if you shave less often, and the hair grows back, it will feel itchy.
To remedy razor bumps, you will need:
- Aftershave balm
- Aloe vera
- Cortisone ointment
- Salicylic acid
- After shaving, apply an aftershave balm. This is a remedy for razor bumps that you already have. In addition, it will prevent new razor bumps. The balm should contain healing and soothing ingredients, such as aloe.
- Apply pure aloe vera to the affected skin. If you purchase an over-the-counter aloe vera gel, make sure that it does not contain alcohol of any kind. That will make your razor bumps more painful. Apply the aloe vera once per day.
- Use a cortisone ointment on your skin. Put it directly on your razor bumps. This remedy will soothe any skin irritation and also promote healing.
Apply a skin product containing salicylic acid. Many commercial products contain this ingredient. It's commonly used in skin products used for treating acne. Salicylic acid cleans pores and reduces any inflammation. It will heal any razor bumps on the skin as well as moisturize the skin.
- Perform proper maintenance on your razor. Rinse your razor with warm water every time that you use it. Replace the blades in your razor once per week.
