Recurring dreams are a favorte subject of dream analysts and researchers. No one is sure if dreams mean anything. Scientists are not even sure if animals dream. A person who has recurring dreams that he can remember may wonder if they mean anything. The answer appears to be a strong maybe.

When dreams occur. Most dreams occur during REM sleep. Parts of the brain that are normally dormant during sleep reactivate at this time. Even though most dreams occur during REM sleep, the long dreams occur two hours each morning outside of the rapide eye movement stage.

Recurring Dreams are normal. Recurring dreams happen to most people. Our subsconscious takes cues from our daily lives to populate our dreamscape. The average dream is our subconscious at play. The events of a dream are often not relevant to the life of the dreamer. Sometimes a recurring dream does mean something. Recurring dreams are a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in some patients.

When to pay attention to recurring dreams. The person who has the dream will know whether it means something to him or not. If he relives something that happened to him in the past, he may want to consult a therapist and work out the issues causing the recurring dreams. Sometimes the recurring dream means a person is trying to work out a problem.

Recurring dreams do not necessarily signal problems. A recurring dream does not always signal a problem or an issue being worked out. Most of the time, the dreams are just our minds using images from our daily lives. Everyone over the age of ten experiences dreams. Not everyone remembers them.
