If you are not satisfied with a recent REI purchase, you should learn about the REI return policy. REI has an easy return policy. If you ever become dissatisfied with an item you have purchased from REI, you can return it for a refund or an exchange. You don't even need a receipt. If you lost your receipt or if you are returning a gift, REI will still accept the return. The REI return policy outlines two ways of returning items: through mail or in an REI store.
If you are mailing your return, you will also need to mail your receipt. If you don't have your receipt, REI will accept a letter that includes your name, member number, contact information, the date and location of purchase, the value of the purchase (at the time of purchase) and the reason you are returning the item to REI. You will also need to indicate how you would like to receive your refund (whether you would like your bank account to be credited ot whether you would like REI store credit). If you are returning an item that you have used, it is REI's return policy that you wash it first.
If you are returning an item to an REI store, bring the item, the receipt and the bank card that you want to be credited. As with mailing your return, if you do not have your receipt, you will need to fill out a form with the aforementioned information. If you want to make an exchange and the REI store does not have the item you purchased, the item can be ordered for you.
