Make sure you know the facts about these Restasis side effects before using your medication. Restasis is used to increase the tear-making process in the eyes. Some times the eyes can't produce enough tears in the ducts. Medications like Restasis helps improve this problem. However, there are some side effects you should know about.

  1. Burning: A burning sensation when using this medication is a common side effect. It's temporary and will ease after several uses. But if it burns with every use, contact your physician.
  2. Watery eyes: Watery eyes is a Restasis side effect that may occur in some people. Eye drops may cause this side effect, but can subside after several uses. If it does not, speak with a pharmacist or doctor about treatments, concerns and questions.
  3. Pain in the eyes: You can experience pain in one or both eyes when taking Restasis. It's important to report this side effect to your doctor if it occurs. You could have an unknown underlying problem associated with your eyes. Unless the pain is severe, your doctor may ask you to continue using your medication until your appointment. If the pain is severe, seek emergency treatment first.
  4. Blurred vision: It is not uncommon to experience blurred vision when first using your medication. Some medications may interfere with sight until the eyes become used to it. The feeling of something in your eyes may occur as well. Your doctor may examine your eyes to see if any other problems are causing this sensation.
  5. Itchiness: As with any foreign substance, the eyes may itch. Follow all instructions prescribed by your doctor. If the sensation doesn't subside or worsens, report it to the doctor. You may be allergic to the medication.

Restasis should not be used if you have eye infections. Make sure to tell your doctor if you're taking other medications or using other eye treatments.
