Restless leg syndrome home remedies can be used to ease the constant leg movement that can keep sufferers from sleeping at night. Though many restless leg syndrome home remedies may not completely rid you of the condition, they can help to decrease it or to give you more nights without the leg movements.

  1. Avoid caffeine and other stimulants. To allow your body to relax, cut down or eliminate stimulants like caffeine, nicotine and energy drinks and supplements. Restless leg syndrome can be aggravated by all of these stimulants.
  2. Relax your muscles with hot water. Tight muscles can worsen the condition, and hot water is a natural muscle relaxant. Of all of the restless leg syndrome home remedies, taking a hot bath or sitting in a hot tub may be among the most enjoyable.
  3. Create a relaxing bedtime routine. Going from a busy, active day directly to bed may not allow your body and mind to relax sufficiently before it's time for sleep. Getting yourself relaxed with a regular bedtime routine can help you to ease into bedtime. Try reading, meditation, a calming hobby or another relaxing activity before bedtime to help create a transition time between activity and sleep.
  4. Take multivitamins and eat a balanced diet. Restless leg syndrome can be caused by a lack of certain vitamins and minerals. This can include potassium, iron, magnesium or other nutrients. Adding more fruits and vegetables into your diet is an easy restless leg syndrome home remedy that has the potential to eradicate the condition completely.
