Need to know the rules of Omaha poker? In the world of poker, there are many different sets of rules for you to choose from, and one of the most popular is Omaha poker. The rules of Omaha poker aren't too different from what many veteran poker players are probably used to. They actually hold quite a bit in common with Texas Hold 'Em, but with a bit more strategy to it.

1. The deal. The rules of Omaha poker begin their similarities with Texas Hold 'Em at the dealer. Each person at the table receives cards into their hand in the beginning of the game. In Omaha poker, you receive four down cards, as opposed to two in Hold 'Em.
2. The game. Betting begins after the deal. A three card flop follows as the dealer lays three cards face up on the table. There is another round of betting, followed by an one card turn. After another round of betting, a one card river. When the final round of betting is over, the players reveal their hands and see who won the cash.
3. A hand in Omaha poker consists of five cards. These are made up of a combination of cards from the player's hand and the table. Unlike in Hold 'Em, the rules of Omaha poker state that you have to use two cards from your hand and three cards from the table, no matter what. Even if there are five hearts on the table, you can only get the flush if you have two hearts in your hand. On the flip side, if you have four hearts, you need three hearts on the table to get the flush. This adds a layer of strategy to the game, and can certainly make trying to read your opponent more interesting.
