Sausage And Peppers Recipe

There are many different recipes for sausage and peppers.  It is a good easy Italian meal to make.  You can serve sausage and pepper on rolls or make pasta on the side using it as a thick sauce. When having friends over or going somewhere it is a popular entree to make that most everyone enjoys eating. Using hot or mild sausage will give the recipe a different taste.  Learn how to make sausage and peppers using hot and mild sausage. These recipes can be made on top of the stove or in the frying pan or on the grill.

You will need:

  • Frying Pan
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Colander
  • Spatula
  • Bowls
  • Wooden skewers
  • grill or broiler
  • potato peeler

Hot Italian Sausage and Peppers


  • 1 lb. hot  Italian sausage
  • 2 large green bell peppers
  • 2 large red bell peppers
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 white onion minced
  • 1 large can of 28 ounce tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  1. Cut sausage links on cutting board into several pieces put aside.  Add olive oil to the pan.
  2. Cut onion and bell peppers on a separate cutting board. Cut onions removethe  skin and discard.
  3. Cut peppers discard seeds. Slice into thin strips.
  4. Cook onion and peppers in the frying pan over medium heat  with garlic. Cook about 10 to 15 minutes until  cooked.
  5. Add diced sausage links.  Cook for five minutes on low. Stir
  6. Add tomato sauce.  Lower heat cook for 20 to 25 minutes. 
  7. Serve on rolls or with pasta.

Sweet Italian Sausage and Peppers

This recipe uses no tomato sauce so it has different flavor and taste.


  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage diced
  • 4 large green bell peppers
  • 1 white onion minced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 pound fresh basil
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  1. Cut the sausage links into pieces. Put aside in a bowl.
  2. Cut the onion discard skin and mince.  
  3. Add olive oil to trying pan and saute onions. Cook five minutes over medium heat.
  4. Cut peppers and discard seeds. Cut the peppers  into bite size strips.
  5. Add to peppers to the frying pan.  Cook about 15 minutes.
  6. Add sausage links, paprika, basil and lemon juice.  Stir sausage and peppers.
  7. Add more oil if needed. Cook about 15 minutes more. 
  8. Serve on rolls or over rice or pasta.

Grilled Sausage and Pepper on Skewers

  • 1 lb hot sausage
  • 1 lb. mild sausage
  • 2 red bell pepper
  • 2 yellow bell pepper
  • 1 red onion diced
  • 2 green squash peeled and diced
  • 2 yellow squash peeled and diced
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  1. Cut the hot and mild sausage into pieces. Make sure that can be put on wooden skewers.
  2. Cut the peppers and discard seeds. Cut into 1 inch strips.
  3. Peel and cut red onions into cubes.
  4. Peel the yellow and green squash.  Dice into rounds
  5. Mix the oil, vinegar and lemon juice. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Put one hot sausage and one mild sausage link on skewer.
  7. Put a slice yellow and red pepper on each skewer.  Add one round of yellow and green squash.
  8. Add hunk of red onion on skewer.
  9. Brush with olive oil and lemon juice mixture well.  Use a food brush.
  10. Cook skewers over medium heat for about 25 to 30 minutes.  Turn often so do not burn.
  11. Serve over white of brown rice.
