Set Up Gmail Account
If you need an email address, learn about how to set up a Gmail account. Setting up a Gmail account is relatively simple. Gmail accounts are preferred to other email clients because Gmail blocks more spam for getting to your inbox. Gmail also allows you to view your chat window, while viewing your email. Gmail accounts also provide substantial storage space, so you don't have to delete emails.
In order to learn about how to set up a Gmail account, you will need:
- A computer
- An Internet connection
- Five minutes
- Create an Account. In order to set up a Gmail account, you will need to go to google.com. If you are already using Google as your search engine, you can just select Gmail in the upper left corner. Selecting Gmail from the upper left corner, will also take you to the Gmail account set up. Click on the "Create Account" button, located on the lower right corner.
- Enter your information in the text boxes. In order to set up a Gmail account, you will have to enter your full name, location, and birth date. You will also choose a login name. Your Gmail login name can be anything you desire, as long as it is not already taken. After you come up with your Gmail login name, you can check it to make sure it is available. You will use this name to log in to your Gmail account and as your email address.
- Secure your Gmail account. In setting up your Gmail account, you will want to choose a password that cannot easily be hacked. For example, use a combination of letters and numbers. When you set up your Gmail account, you will also set up a security question and answer. You can elect to have a recovery email in case you forget your Gmail account password.
- Accept. The last step in setting up a Gmail account is to accept the terms and conditions of creating a Gmail account. You can check your information one more time to make sure you have entered everything accurately. After you have scrolled through the terms and conditions text, click on " I accept. Create my account."
