Slow Cooker Brisket Recipe

Read all about a very delicious slow cooker brisket recipe that has been improved over the ages. Years ago, our ancestors used to cook brisket in an outdoor oven and used large layers of aluminum foil to seal in the delicious flavors. This recipe is healthier with no aluminum foil used at all. These slow cooker brisket recipes are cooked slowly with just the right spice to thrill your palate and soothe your stomach for hours.

Slow Cooker Brisket Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 lbs. brisket
  • 2 large onions, cut in half and then sliced
  • 6 tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tsp. liquid smoke
  • 1 tbsp. paprika
  • 2 tbsp. virgin olive oil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 handful fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Add olive oil in a large heavy bottomed pan. Add the onions and cook on low heat until translucent.
  2. Add the tomato paste, ginger, garlic, bay leaves, liquid smoke and basil. Stir slightly and add in the spices.
  3. Add the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the sauce from the stove and allow to cool. Place the brisket in the sauce and cover.
  5. Place the brisket and sauce in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, pour some of the sauce in the bottom of the slow cooker and add the brisket on top. Pour the remaining sauce.
  6. Cook the brisket for nine to ten hours until the meat is very tender. Remove the brisket from the slow cooker and serve with basmati rice or couscous made with dried apricots.

Quick and Easy Slow Cooker Brisket

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs. brisket
  • 1 bottle barbecue sauce
  • 1 large red onion, sliced thick
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • Salt and pepper
  1. Slice the onions and put them in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add the chicken stock.
  2. Season the brisket with salt and pepper and rub the barbecue sauce all over the brisket. Place the brisket inside the slow cooker.  
  3. Add in any remaining sauce on top of the brisket. Cook the brisket for eight to nine hours until the meat is very tender.  
  4. Serve the slow cooker brisket on flour tortillas with guacamole. This brisket recipe may be served as a regular meal with steak fries.
