Soccer's Top 10 Goals Of All Time

There are so many worthy contenders for the list of soccer's top 10 goals of all time that you could watch footage for hours and hours and still be undecided. The best goals come from every nation and some of the finest players scored them so here are the top 10 of all time.

  1. Saeed Al Qwairan for Saudi Arabia v. Belgium, July 3, 1994. Not exactly a household name, but Saeed ran the length of the field and dribbled past half of the Belgian back line before scoring. Clearly, it ranks as one of soccer's top goals of all time, and it put Saudi soccer on the map.
  2. Michael Owen for England v. Argentina, June 30, 1998. Before the game, people thought Owen was too young for a big World Cup game, but afterwards, everyone was talking about about one of the best soccer goals of all time. Owen got the ball from Beckham before tearing past the opposition and blasting it into the net.
  3. Dennis Bergkamp for Netherlands v. Brazil, July 7, 1998. His team lost the semi final but everyone was talking about Bergkamp's top quality goal. The Dutchman caught an overhead ball on the volley, flipped it past a defender and then into the net.
  4. Carlos Alberto for Brazil v. Italy, June 21, 1970. Brazil hammered Italy in the World Cup final but a great team effort ending with Alberto's goal was one of the ten top soccer goals of all time. Pele gave Alberto the assist after a fantastic passing move, and Alberto powered it home.
  5. Ray Houghton for Ireland v. Italy, June 18, 1994. No one gave Ireland a chance against the mighty Italy, but Ray had other ideas. He hit a bouncing ball, 30 yards from goal, on the turn off balance and his effort became one of the top soccer goals in World Cup history.
  6. James McFadden for Scotland v. France, September 12, 2007. Scotland had no chance according to the pundits, and Everton striker James McFadden was struggling for form. No one expected him to score a stunner from 40 yards out. This is definitely one of soccer's all time best strikes.
  7. Robert Carlos for Brazil v. France, June 3, 1997. This is arguably the top goal ever scored. Roberto made the ball move two yards to the left then to the right in mid-air before it whisked past Barthez. This one has to be seen to be believed.
  8. Marco Van Basten for Netherlands v. Soviet Union, June 27, 1988. Marco may have been the best striker ever to have played the game and his goal against Russia helps make that argument. On the volley, from an impossible angle, his lob chip combination beat the keeper and remains as one of soccer's top ten goals of all time.
  9. Marco Van Basten for Ajax v. Den Bosch, November 9, 1986. Over head kicks rank among the top soccer goals but no one has done a better one than the Dutch master Van Basten. His effort for Ajax was perfectly place and delivered with amazing power.
  10. Graeme Sharp for Everton v. Liverpool, March 29, 1986. Graeme is not remembered for scoring lots of goals but this one was more than enough. He chested it past the Liverpool defender then volleyed it past the keeper from 40 yards to score one of the top ten soccer goals of all time.
