If you do not have a social media strategy for business, you are losing an opportunity to enhance your business. There are billions of people worldwide using social media to connect, and it is vital for a business to have a social media strategy in place to reach existing and new customers.  To implement a social media strategy for your business, your company must have a plan and have specific reasons why you are using social media. With concrete objectives, the company should then proceed to implement strategies to help the business.

  1. Using social media strategy for business is important because it allows a business to have instant customer feedback a faster approach than traditional methods. Thus, think about the social media site that will provide the best benefit for your company, and base your selections on the sites that will help your company reach its goals.
  2. Consider the number of people you want to reach, and determine if Facebook or Twitter will help you achieve your goals. You might want to use more than one social media to attain your goals, since it is better to have your presence in more than one place than to limit yourself to one. You also have a greater chance of reaching more clients.
  3. Look at your competitors' sites and see what is working for them. Look at their pitfalls, and avoid these pitfalls. Make sure your information on the social media page stand outs against your competitors.
  4. Personalize your business on your favorite social media site. Do this by posting pictures of some of the activities within the business or do podcats. Having a personal touch makes your company seem personable, and will help you add extra traffic to the site and possible lead to new customers.
  5. Update your social media site regularly. Keep your information fresh and not repetitive. Repetitive information becomes boring and will turn off some customers. If you have employees, assign one to update your social media pages and give them authority to handle customer’s messages and question in at least 24 hours.
  6. Write a blog about the going on within the business. This is a good way to help build the company brand and help new customers become familiar with the company. Make sure your company is providing some form of value for your customers when you write the blog.
  7. Provide advice to your customers when they post questions and concerns. Do this by providing feedback, and seek responses to your posting. If your company is running a special, advertise it on the social media site. Check out what people are saying about your brand, and respond to the good responses as well as the bad.
  8. Use social media to launch new products or to launch new promotions. This is a good social media strategy for your business to get the word out about your company and your brand. Launch social media as a way to entice customers to buy your products or services.
  9. Encourage your employees to be a part of your business social media page. However, reiterate to your employees how important it is to follow company guidelines when they use this medium.  Since, they are representing your company brand you want to make sure all precautions are in place.
  10.  Keep your social media site professional at all times. It is important to be professional because you want the company to have a good image. Unprofessional information on your page will paint a negative picture of your company and with millions of customers at stake it is not worth it.
