If you are a Sophia Loren fan you may be interesting in knowing Sophia Loren's biography. Sophia Loren has been acting on the big screen since 1953 and has starred opposite of some handsome and famous leading men. Her movie co-stars have included Marlon Brando and Gregory Peck she has also co-starred with some hilarious grumpy old men.

Sophia Loren's first credited role was in 1950. She was given the credit under the name of Sofia Scicolone. In 1962, when she was just 28 years old, she would an academy Award for Best Actress. One of her most memorable roles could most likely be that of Maria Sophia Coletta Ragetti in “Grumpier Old Men” with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.

Sophia Loren first married her husband in 1957. In 1962 the marriage was annulled because in Italy Carlo Ponti was still married to his first wife. The couple remarried in 1965 when his divorce was final. The couples first son was born in 1968. Carlo Jr was then followed five year later by a brother, Edoardo in 1973. When Sophia Loren has children she worked less. Her movies were primarily Italian films.

She launched her own perfume in 1981. Then in 1982 she went to jail for Tax evasion spending eighteen days in the slammer.Her husband died in 2007 due to pulmonary complications. Sophia Loren keeps a low profile these days. Only making a movie here and there she spends most of her time in Los Angeles where she is closer to her family and most importantly her grandchildren.
