Sports Car Insurance: 5 Facts

When purchasing sports car insurance, it is important to keep the following 5 facts in mind:

  1. Sports car insurance is always more expensive. Because your car poses a bigger risk of being in an accident or being stolen, you will be paying more every month in comparison to most.
  2. Don't choose a higher deductible just for a lower monthly payment. It is very important to keep a low deductible on your car insurance. You run a higher risk of being in an accident, so you need to have a low deductible. It's important to remember that a lower monthly payment doesn't mean you're saving if you're going to be paying a large sum if you get in a fender-bender.
  3. If you make changes to your car, tell your insurance. If you put a new stereo system in your car, new rims on your wheels, or even just change the steering wheel--immediately inform your insurance company. If your car gets stolen, you will not be refunded for these changes. You can also be accused of insurance fraud by the company if you don't report specific changes made to your car.
  4. Most insurance companies offer sports car insurance, so if you're already insured with one insurance company make sure that they offer this type of insurance before searching for another one. If you feel like they charge more than most, you always have the option of getting different offers.
  5. In most states, having specific "sports car" insurance is a law for sports car owners. Don't think you can somehow get away without having sports car insurance because it's very, very important.
