Springboard Diving Tips
Whether you like to dive for fun or want to be competitive, try these springboard diving tips to improve your form. Springboard diving has been a part of the Olympics since the early 1900's and has progressed significantly since then. Diving combines the characteristics of gymnastics and dancing to make it a fun sport to watch.
- Point your toes. A pointed to contributes to the overall look of the dive. In order to get a good toe point you need to practice it an work it as part of your regular training. A good toe point in diving should also appear as one. This means that the feet and legs are as close as they can get so it looks like just one foot.
- Enter the water hands first. There are a couple of reasons for this diving tip. First, dives that enter the water headfirst are easier to control. It is also easier to rip an entry with your hands first.
- Practice your dives in tuck. If you are training for springboard diving and want to bring it to the next level, then practicing your dives in the tuck position will give the fundamentals you need to improve.
- Practice grabbing your hands. If you practice grabbing your hands before you stretch for the water every time you do it, it will eventually become second nature. This is one of the essential springboard diving tips that many don't think about, but it is easy to do.
- Use the flat hand. Springboard diving is all about the rip entry. The flat hand will allow you to do this. To achieve the flat hand, grab your hand with the palm facing the water to create a flat surface.
