Stand Up Paddle Surfing Tips For Beginners
Try these stand up paddle surfing tips for beginners if you want to become a part of one of the best ways to get in shape. If you have been wondering what it was like to get out there on the water and start paddle surfing, don't wait. All you really need is a board, a paddle and a leash to get started. Read through these tips and then hit the water.
- Always stay with your board. This is an important paddle surfing tip. Even if you lose your paddle, you always want to stay with your board. If you need to, paddle with your hands.
- Use a leash on a lake or the ocean, but not on a river. A leash will keep your attached to your board. If you are paddle surfing on a river a leash can be dangerous because it could get caught on something in the river and pull you down.
- Stand in the middle of the board. If you are to far forward on your board when you are paddle surfing you may sink the nose of the board. If you are to far back you will slow yourself down and create drag. Stand in the middle with your feet shoulder width apart.
- Reach forward with the paddle and keep it close to the board. You should keep the blade vertical while you pull it back close to the paddle board. You don't want to extend the paddle to far forward because it may pull the edge of the board down causing you to become off balance.
- Your feet can move. Paddle surfing is all about balance. As it improves you can start moving your feet around on the board to help with your balance in rougher waters.
