The “Star Wars Battlefront 2” Extreme mod characters are enhanced versions of characters found in the original release. The characters in “Star Wars Battlefront 2” Extreme mod play pretty much the same as the Lucas developed ones so there is no learning curve or surprises in store. But "Star Wars" fans have added little tweaks and design flairs they felt were lacking. They also created a much more robust combat engine the original. For example the Extreme mod can support hundreds of characters on Hoth which makes gameplay more exciting.
- General characters. While a few new characters have been added to the “Star Wars Battlefront 2” Extreme mod, unless you are a hardcore fan with no life you might no notice the added orange stripe on a uniform or the Twilek spy blended in with 50 other characters brawling on screen. The Extreme mod does add some nice general touches however. You can sprint longer which is nice but it takes longer to recharge. Droids move slower to keep this in check. Also the laser effects have improved when they hit characters.
- The Fetts. Everyone's favorite characters from the Star Wars universe have gone through a nice makeover in the “Star Wars Battlefront 2” Extreme mod. Jango Fett now wields dual pistols and the father and son bounty hunters also have cooler animations for their flamethrowers. The jetpack is a blast to use in “Star Wars Battlefront 2” but it never lasts very long. The Extreme mod features longer lasting jetpacks but they do take longer to recharge.
- The Jedi and Sith. The Jedi and Sith characters definitely have more of a presence in the “Star Wars Battlefront 2” Extreme mod. Not only are these characters more powerful in attack, they can now block with their lightsabers while striking. Force powers can also be charged up for devastating attacks.
