Steve McNair was killed on July 4th, 2009, making him 36 years old at the time of his death. McNair was killed by Sahel Kazemi, who was only 20 years old. Both McNair and Kazemi were found in a condominum that he co-owned. The cause of Steve McNair's death was four fatal gunshot wounds according to the autopsy that was performed in Nashville. Steve McNair was shot twice in the chest and twice in the head. McNair had recently opened a restaurant, Gridiron9, but it closed on the day of his death and never opened again.
Sahel Kazemi shot herself after killing Steve McNair. When police arrived at the murder scene, they found a semi-automatic pistol under Kazemi's body. McNair and his wife, Mechelle, had four children. McNair and Kazemi had been romantically involved for several months prior to his death. Police reported that McNair and Kazemi met at a Dave & Buster's restaurant in Nashville where Kazemi worked. Kazemi apparently didn't know that McNair was married at the time, which, along with other factors, may have led to the incident which ultimately claimed McNair's life.
