Swimming Games

In this list of swimming games, you'll get some great new ideas for your next pool party. Water is fun and games just make everything better, so there's absolutely no reason why you won't enjoy any of these aquatic activities.

  1. Marco Polo: This is an old classic. One person is blindfolded, and the other will have to avoid being caught. However, the blindfolded person will be able to track the other by saying 'marco', in which the second will have to respond with 'polo'. This will go on until the free-roaming one is finally caught or the blind gives up.

  2. Air mattress ship: This particular game requires an air mattress, which when filled up, is thrown into the pool. As many kids as possible must try to stand on it without toppling over. Keep in mind, this is more difficult than it sounds, but once the kids get a hang of it, they'll feel like kings.

  3. Belly flop contest: This game is so instinctive to kids that it doesn't even have to be announced. All it takes is one person to do a belly flop, and others will subsequently follow to try and one up him/her. While fun, this game will surely result in a few sore torsos, so make sure the diving platform isn't set too high.

  4. Survivor: This will require the use of an air mattress and some pool noodles. Two kids stand facing each other on the air mattress in the middle of the pool, and try to knock each other off with the wet noodle.

  5. Good ol' fashioned swimming contest: Nothing embraces the thrill of childhood like fun competition, so why not see who can swim the fastest? If you have dividers, separate the pool into lanes, and see who might be the next Michael Phelps!
