Swimming Pool Exercises
Swimming pool exercises are fun to do, and can also give you the workout you need. Swimming is used as a pastime, and half the time you’re in the pool, you do not even know that you’re getting a workout at the same time. Swimming pool exercises can be easy to challenging depending on the level you’re at with swimming, or the type of workout you want. Start off slow and small at first, and work your way up the ladder when using swimming pool exercises.
- Stretching. Stretching should be done before any swimming pool exercises to ensure that your body is ready to take on the exercises. This can be done by stretching out the muscles and tendons in the body while in the water.
- Small Circles. Starting off with small circles of the arms and legs for swimming pool exercises will give you better range of motion. This can also be thought of as a warm up exercise.
- Kicks and punches. Kicks and punches underwater work the muscles while also stretching the tendons out at the same time. There is resistance with every kick and punch that allows you to build muscle.
- Swimming laps. You can begin by swimming laps around the pool to strengthen the body, and get your cardio pumping. You can swim freestyle, or any way that you choose to swim that works the best for you.
- Build up the speed. Build your speed up while swimming laps around the pool. This swimming pool exercise not only makes the heart and lungs stronger, but your muscles as well.
- Change the pace. Change the pace of the swimming that you’re doing. You can change the way that you are swimming by going a different direction, or building up a new routine.
- Change the swimming technique. Change the way you’re swimming. If you were swimming doggy paddle, then try going underwater. You can find many different ways to swim in the pool.
- Slow it down. Slow down the laps in the pool, and swim slower in the same technique that you changed too.
- Walk in the pool. Walk around the shallow end of the pool, bringing your knees up to your abs. This tightens the abs and is a great ab and leg swimming pool exercise.
- Float. Float around for a bit, keeping your body afloat before ending your routine and getting out of the pool. This will slower the rate, and get your body to relax for a minute so you do not pull anything.
