It is important to recognize the symptoms of a hormone imbalance because the condition is extremely common among women. Hormone imbalances in women can begin as early as the late 20’s until the late 40’s. Many women do not recognize the symptoms of a hormone imbalance until after the imbalance has been present for quite sometime. When the imbalance has been left untreated for a prolonged period of time, the symptoms of a hormone imbalance can begin to progress in severity. Some women experience only one symptom, while others may experience multiple symptoms.

  1. Symptoms of a hormone imbalance can be very similar to other common health aliments. Common symptoms of a hormone balance include allergy-like symptoms, depression, fatigue and anxiety. Other symptoms that are commonly mistaken include decreased sex drive, urinary tract infections and PMS. Often, women with a hormone imbalance experience bloating, water retention and weight gain.
  2. Symptoms of a hormone imbalance can become more severe and cause health complications to occur. More serious complications of a hormone imbalance include endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts and uterine fibroids. Other severe symptoms women experience involve osteoporosis and incontinence.
  3. Symptoms of a hormone imbalance can also include symptoms that are not severe but are quite bothersome. Bothersome symptoms of a hormones imbalance can include the growth of facial hair and hair loss. Headaches, difficulty concentrating and dizziness are also symptoms of imbalanced hormone levels. Often, wrinkly skin can occur with a hormone imbalance as well.

If you experience one or more of the symptoms of a hormone imbalance, it is important to seek a medical evaluation. Hormones levels can be adjusted with medications once an imbalance has been properly diagnosed. A diagnosis can be achieved through simple laboratory testing.
