Symptoms of a kidney stone is only recognizable depending on the size of the kidney stones. Kidneys are organs that are close to the lower back, assist in filtering waste, and create urine. A kidney stone is a solid substance that forms in the kidney and thwart urine movement. They are painful to pass and can be dangerous when passing. This ailment affects roughly 14% of the population during their lifetime.   

1. Sometimes the first symptom that indicates kidney stones exist is lower back pain. This pain is constant and sudden, and it may travel to the side or the groin area. This pain is severe so you would know something is wrong if you experience this pain. In fact, some females state the pain is worse than childbirth.
2. Another symptom of kidney stone is blood in the urine. When you notice blood in the urine, it normally means that the kidney stone is restricting urine movement inside the kidney, and the urine is unable to move to the bladder. 3. Feeling nauseous or vomiting normally are symptoms of kidney stones. This feeling may last a long time and may start early on and then continue until the kidney stone passes. 
4. An increase urge to urinate can be a sign of kidney stones as well. Thus, write down how often you have the desire to urinate. Note any burning during urination, and look for sandy grains in the urine because kidney stones have a sandy grain appearance. If you notice one kidney stone, it is likely that you will pass more.
5. Abnormal urine odor is another kidney stone symptom to check. Changes in your urine odor along with pain and burning during urination are indicator of kidney stones.
6. Fever and chills occurs after the kidney stones have been present for a long time. These symptoms are clear indication to contact a medical provider for assessment and treatment. If you experience these symptoms along with heavy perspiration,  make sure you have some place to sit because sometimes these kidney stone symptoms leads to black out.
7. Kidney stones usually pass without requiring any medical attention, especially if they are small. In fact, some patient may have kidney stones and pass them without being aware that they had them in the first place because they may be small. However, large kidney stones may block the urine passage and creates problems requiring immediate medical care.
