1. Table tennis clips and nets. Table tennis clips are used to fasten the net on the left and right side of the table. The nets for table tennis should be exactly six inches in height and need to spread across the middle of the ping pong table with six inches on either side. This ping pong net should be made out of mesh that is a dark enough color to contrast a white or orange table tennis ball.
2. Ping pong table. The correct size for a ping pong table is nine feet in length, five feet in width and 2.5 feet in height. The material that this surface should be made out of is Masonite timber with a smooth coating to prevent significant friction. In order to play table tennis on your ping pong table, it will need to have a net attached.
3. Ping pong paddles. Paddles for table tennis are usually found with wooden handles that have a sponge grip to improve flexibility. The size of a ping pong paddle is purely up to the player, but it is often suggested that smaller paddles provide more accurate shots than bigger paddles that tend to allow less power and control. The surface of a ping pong paddle is covered with a material that consists of a layer of sponge and a outer layer of pimpled rubber. Paddles without rubber are not allowed in table tennis competitions sponsored by the International Table Tennis Federation, known as ITTF.
4. Ping pong balls. The ping pong balls that are recommended for international table tennis tournaments should be balls made of gas-filled celluloid. Their precise size is 40 mm in diameter and 2.7 grams in weight. Ping pong balls are usually either white or orange in color.
