Table Tennis Rules
Want to play a quick game of table tennis and need to know the table tennis rules to play the game? Don't worry they are very simple and table tennis is a fun game to play for the young and old. Here are the basics of table tennis rules:
- Your opponent will serve the ball and you will return it to him, by hitting it. Continue doing this back and forth action for as long as you can. The game should start with a serve. This is where you toss the ball up and then strike it with your paddle.
- The ball must bounce once on each side of the table before and after it goes over the net. If the ball touches the net you need to serve again. You don't get a point if you fail to hit the ball while serving, or your shot is blocked by the net, the ball bounces twice on your side, or if it hits the floor or wall.
- You can't hit the ball before it bounces and your free hand cannot touch the table or net. Are the table tennis rules that make the game a challenge. You win the point if your opponent makes any of these same errors.
- The server serves until they reach five points into the game and then the other player serves. A game goes to 21 points and a match is three out of five games. So don't get disappointed there are plenty of opportunities to catch up in a match if you are falling behind. So have fun and follow the table tennis rules and win the game.
