Thank You Email After Interview Tips
Looking for a few thank you email after-interview tips? After you have gone on an interview, whether it was formal or informal, it is always a good idea to send a thank you email after the fact. By sending a thank you email, you are acknowledging that you remain interested in the position that you interviewed for. Unfortunately, many people forget to send a thank you email after an interview and that may cost them the job. Simply put, the thank you email is something that employers generally look for.
- Send the email quickly. It is very important that you send your thank you email as soon as possible. Unless something is stopping you from getting to your computer or mobile phone, send the email the same day you went on the interview. You don't want the company to hire someone else before you have a chance to send the email off.
- Avoid generics. There are tons of generic thank you email after interview templates available on the web. While it doesn't hurt to use one as a guideline, don't just send a generic thank you email to the person you interviewed with. You want your email to stand out, so be sure to tailor it to the company that you interviewed with. For example, include a couple of highlights from the interview just to show you were paying attention.
- Sell yourself. Although you should have tried to sell yourself during the interview, you may have got nervous and choked up a bit. If that happened, don't worry about it too much. Use your thank you email to once again explain to the person that you interviewed with your many skills, strengths and/or accomplishments.
